YMWIC Scholarship Program

We accept member enrollments at any point during the Program Year. Students in the Chester Upland, Coatesville, Norristown, Philadelphia – Furness High School, Phoenixville, Upper Darby, West Chester, and William Penn School Districts are invited to enroll in one of our upcoming programs and/or events to get to know the organization and learn more about YMWIC membership; the advantages of becoming a YMWIC Scholar; and understanding how the many services and resources provided benefit Scholars personally, academically, and professionally.

Become a YMWIC Scholar

While in college, thanks to the commitment of YMWIC’s corporate and university partners, each Scholar alum who maintains the Foundation’s academic requirements and standards is eligible to receive scholarship support and participate in internships that will prepare them for STEM careers.

Scholar Criteria

YMWIC has a rolling membership process.  Students who are interested in seeking membership with YMWIC must submit an application. Students eligible for application must be in the 3rd through 11th grades as of the September – June program year. They do not need to have an interest in STEM.

Scholar Standards

Once enrolled in the organization, each young Scholar and his or her family become part of the YMWIC family. They make a commitment to remain an active participant in the Foundation until high school graduation, to participate fully in program activities, and maintain a high grade point average.

Scholar Programs

Student members are placed into the following grade-appropriate Scholar programs:

Future Stars Scholars:  3rd and 4th grades
Pluto Scholars:  5th and 6th grades
Neptune Scholars:  7th and 8th grades
Jupiter Scholars:  9th and 10th grades
Saturn Scholars:  11th and 12th grades

Aligned with the Foundation’s Mission, these Scholar groups and activities aim to bridge the gap between academic study and real-life by providing opportunities, projects, and challenges that simulate real-world experiences. Programs available focus on math and science with exciting hands-on projects, engaging laboratory experiments, and interactive STEM-related workshops. Additional workshop topics include Leadership Development, Preparing and Succeeding in College, Career Readiness, Financial Literacy, etc.
