How can my child become a member of the YMWIC?
New member applications are being reviewed for students entering the 3rd through 11th grades. Local program activities will be meeting in person in our partner school districts in Chester Upland, Coatesville, Norristown, Phoenixville, Philadelphia, Upper Darby, West Chester, and William Penn.
How can my child qualify for a college scholarship?
Scholars who have been a member of YMWIC for at least two years, graduate from high school with at least a 3.2 GPA cumulative over their high school years, have been accepted into a community college, trade school, or university in a STEM-related curriculum, and have consistently met all the goals and criteria set forth by the Foundation, will be eligible to receive and maintain a scholarship.
What percentage of members receive scholarships?Â
Since our inaugural year in 2010, 100% of our graduating Scholars have earned YMWIC college scholarships.Â
How much does it cost to join YMWIC?
We ask that families pay a commitment fee of $50 for each Scholar.
Can my child still join after September?
Yes, enrollment remains open throughout the program year.
What if I don’t live in any of your chapter areas?Â
Each of our chapters provides on-site workshops for Scholars and their parents/guardians twice per month during the program year. As long as you and your Scholar can attend workshops at one of our chapter locations and attend required Special Events, you are welcome to join.
