Pre-Apprenticeship Program for Young Adults

The Pre-Apprenticeship Program for Young Adults is designed for YMWIC Alumni and young adults aged 18-24 who hold a High School Diploma or GED and are seeking a hands-on pathway to employment in STEM careers. This comprehensive program includes Saturday and evening workshops in collaboration with our industry partners, along with an 8-week paid summer internship.

Young adults in the Pre-Apprenticeship Program have multiple pathways to enhance their employment prospects:

Educational Advancement: Pursue a two-year degree or technical certificate with scholarship support.

Apprenticeship Training: Access further apprenticeship opportunities through our partner organizations.

Direct Workforce Entry: Transition directly into employment.

Program Components

Essential Work Skills:

Develop communication skills.

Understand workplace expectations.

Master job-seeking skills, including resume building, personal branding, and interviewing techniques.

Hands-on Workshops:

Early Admission to Community College Programs in STEM Fields:

Gain direct enrollment opportunities at community colleges and technical institutes through YMWIC’s partnerships with local educational institutions.

Internships:

Participate in an 8-week paid internship to develop hands-on skills, understand employer requirements, and prepare for work in your chosen field.

Apprenticeship/On-the-Job Training Opportunities:

Transition smoothly into employment through our partnerships with various apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs.
