“I was in the inaugural Coatesville Chapter as an all-women’s chapter.  I remember so clearly when Mr. Roberts said to all of us that you will be the first graduating class of YMWIC Coatesville Chapter and leading the way.  After graduating Cum Laude from Saint Vincent College, I am working as a Chemist for Exelon, Constellation.  I am so grateful for the help and support of YMWIC Foundation, Inc. “

University of Pittsburgh Johnstown, Class of 2021
Major: Computer Engineering

“I am grateful that I was exposed to all types of STEM subjects while I was at YMWIC, especially all types of engineering and robotics. This exposure led me to choosing computer engineering as a career path.  I would advise current YMWIC Scholars who may be considering careers in Engineering to study hard, get good grades, and make sure to brush up on the basics of coding.”

Meet Our Corporate and Community Partners

The services from YMWIC gives many families hope through knowing that college and STEM careers are within reach for their children. The Community Model is implemented through partnerships with corporations, universities, and other non-profit and community organizations. These partners participate in all levels of the program. The goal for this community-based model is to implement it in all low-performing school districts in our country. We believe it will make a significant impact on the achievement gap among African American and Latino youth in math and science, increase the number of women in STEM, and improve economic development through these youth, as they are in position to secure high-paying jobs and become leaders in the same communities.

Our Corporate and Community Partners provide mentoring, job shadowing and site visit opportunities for our Scholars, as well as speaking at our Events and volunteering as workshop presenters.

Meet Our Partner Schools and Universities

YMWIC has eight chapters in the Philadelphia area: West Chester, William Penn, Coatesville, Upper Darby, Phoenixville, Norristown, Chester Upland and Philadelphia. These Partner School Districts collaborate with us and support our programming by providing facilities for our workshops and events, supporting us in the goal of our Scholars maintaining high academic standards, and granting access to other school and district resources.

YMWIC’s valued College and University Partners support us by participating in our Annual Science and College Expo events. They also provide tutors, volunteers, and facilities for our workshops, college tours, and more. It is through them that our Scholars are exposed to a wide array of college and university options and subjects they may study.
