YMWIC October 2022 Newsletter: Moving Onward and Upward

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
Message from Our CEO
Hello, YMWIC Supporters:
Community service is an integral part of the YMWIC curriculum. We want our Scholars to be aware of, and to serve, those in need. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian left millions in need as it wreaked havoc destroying everything in its path. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. We applaud all who responded initially and who continue supporting those communities impacted.
YMWIC staff and volunteers are excitedly beginning our 13th year of service! Our mission has never changed as we continue to grow and expand our Program. Our partnership with the School District of Philadelphia will kick off with our first Chapter at Horace Furness High School in South Philadelphia. We are excited and look forward to serving this new community of Scholars and families.
This month, we are delighted to introduce a new column to our Newsletter, Junior Editors’ Report. This segment offers our Scholars the opportunity to hone their writing skills as they share a news article about a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topic. We look forward to reading their unique perspectives.
As always, we welcome you to join us as we grow and provide top-notch programming to our Scholars and invest in the future of tomorrow’s STEM professionals. Please consider investing your time, talent or making a financial donation to YMWIC in support of our programs and scholarships. I encourage you to contact me directly so we can discuss your involvement. We would love to have you join our valued team of volunteers!
