YMWIC March 2023 Newsletter: YMWIC Provides a Path for Young Women to Pursue STEM Careers
Quote of the Month
“There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
Message from Our CEO
Hello, YMWIC Supporters:
During this season and throughout the Program Year, we observe the vital role women play and the many contributions made during Women’s History Month. We celebrate those courageous women who advocate for equality in their quest to ensure opportunities for women and girls. By sharing women’s achievements, having strong female mentors for Scholars, and using accomplished female leaders throughout the Program Year at Young Men and Women In Charge, our female Scholars have a deeper understanding of their value, recognize their own self-worth and realize their opportunities are limitless.
Most recently, a group of YMWIC Scholars had the exciting opportunity to attend the National Society of Black Engineers 49th Annual Convention this month in Kansas City, Missouri, where they competed in the MATHCOUNTS Competition. The Scholars met many Society members and felt a sense of camaraderie with their peers from all over the country.
We are now looking forward to and preparing for our Annual Job Shadowing Program, which begins this month; Annual Scholarship & Awards Banquet scheduled Thursday, May 25, 2023; Summer Enrichment Programs in June and July; and our Annual Scholarship and Golf Classic on Monday, August 21, 2023. Although these events take place each year, our goal is for them to continually grow, providing more opportunities and scholarships for our Scholars.
Our growth is not possible without the support of our long-term, recently-acquired, and prospective Supporters. Please join us in our mission to provide unique opportunities designed to guide our Scholars to promising futures in STEM and other professional careers.
