Message from Our CEO
Greetings, YMWIC Supporters:
As we look forward to celebrating World Environment Day on June 5 which serves as a major global platform for environmental awareness (addressed by Scholars’ Community Service year-long activities) and Juneteenth on June 19 commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas. Not only are we celebrating important holidays, we’re also still excited about the celebration and success of our 15th Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet last month. A sincere thank you to our sponsors, donors, and over 400 attendees.
We believe so much learning takes place outside of the classroom. Daily life experiences may not offer our Scholars the unique opportunities we’re able to provide, for example, our annual five-day College Tours. When asked what they have enjoyed most during their time with the Foundation, many of our graduating seniors cite the college tours which help them to make decisions about their college choice and career paths, the joy they experienced when making a difference during Community Service events, and their active involvement during workshops and the Science Expo.
We’re proud of the success of our Program graduates–100% are high school graduates, while all of them will pursue post-secondary education matriculating at a four-year college, two-year community college, or focusing their training on highly-technical skills at a trade school.
Your support ensures a more robust community because of an ever-increasing educated workforce in professional fields and skilled trades. Remember, it only takes one person to change the trajectory of someone’s life. Maybe that person is you. Can we count on you to join us by selecting our information link, volunteer link, or financial donation link? Another option is to contact me directly.
