Message from Our CEO

Greetings, YMWIC Supporters:

April marks National Volunteer Month! Until recently, I didn’t know National Volunteer Month was established in 1991; but what I do know is YMWIC would not exist as the successful community nonprofit it is today without our committed and valued volunteers. The impact of community members who serve and support is evident in every aspect of YMWIC Foundation, Inc., which includes supporting our workshops, Special Interest Groups, the move to our new Headquarters at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Annual Science Expo and other events, tutoring Scholars, Job Shadowing and Internship Program, sponsoring fundraisers and events, Academic Tutoring Program, and so much more.

Our corporate, academic, community and parent volunteers always step up to assist when needed, as well as our Alumni and countless others who recognize a need and step up to fill the void. It would not have been possible to travel with Scholars this month to the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Conference in Kansas City, the Neumann University College Fair, or our Annual College Tour without volunteer chaperones, many of whom were parents.

Volunteerism generally gives the volunteer a sense of joy and fulfillment for “giving back.” If you wish to give of your time, skills, and/or talents, YMWIC can certainly find an opportunity tailored just for you. I encourage you to join us, and make a difference by clicking this link to complete a short Volunteer Form. We appreciate your support whether as a volunteer, corporate, community or university partner, sponsor or donor. Help us inspire and shape the future of our next generation of STEM leaders. Remember, it only takes one person to change someone’s life. Maybe that person is you.

With gratitude,
