Robotics Team

Our Robotics Team is a talented group of Scholars who must come together to design and build a robot that can compete against other teams and schools. During competition, our Robotics Team robot must be able to fulfill a series of specific challenges. While participating on the Robotics Team, Scholars will build a solid foundation in math and science. They will also learn how to build robots, how to code, and will also further develop their collaborative and leadership skills.

Jazz Ensemble and Choir

Scholars will learn how to perform in a traditional big band setting focusing on harmony, melody and rhythm. Scholars will also explore various jazz styles, standards and sounds.

NSBE MATHCOUNTS Club

NSBE MATHCOUNTS Club is a fun and challenging math program designed for middle school students to increase their academic and professional opportunities. The competition builds math skills, promotes logical thinking and sharpens students’ analytical abilities. MATHCOUNTS motivates and rewards students by fostering teamwork and a competitive spirit. It involves students and teachers in year-long coaching sessions and helps students at all levels improve their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Civics & Debate Team

Our Scholars are introduced to real-world issues and given opportunities to participate in competitive speech. Scholars learn to create logical, ethical and emotional arguments to persuade others in the club that their “side” or position is correct. Being involved in debate empowers Scholars to develop important problem-solving, communication and critical thinking skills so they can advocate for themselves and become better informed and productive citizens.

Parent Liaison Team

A couple of parents in each YMWIC Chapter comprise a team which has goals of: improving communication within the Chapter by encouraging and supporting a holistic and transparent approach in service to the Foundation; and striving to keep the expectations of the Foundation and families aligned by becoming partners in helping us to communicate with families.

Fathers of YMWIC

The group of Scholars’ fathers meet to discuss how they can provide mentorship, leadership, fundraising support, volunteer services, community outreach opportunities, and positive role modeling to the Scholars and the Foundation.
